WHAT IS AN EYEBROW TATTOO?
Eyebrow tattooing is a cosmetic procedure that involves filling your thinning eyebrows with specialised cosmetic tattoo ink. Only licensed professionals should be providing eyebrow tattooing services.
There are two types of eyebrow tattoo:
- Permanent; and
- Semi-permanent.
At Colour Implants Brisbane, we provide permanent eyebrow tattooing. Sometimes called “microblading“, these are created by inserting ink deep into the skin. Although they are permanent, the hue of the ink fades over time.
Semi-permanent eyebrow tattoos, on the other hand, are made with pigments and inserted in a shallow area on the skin. It typically lasts one to two years but can last longer with good maintenance.
WHY CONSIDER AN EYEBROW TATTOO?
If shaping and drawing on your eyebrows is part of your make-up routine, it can be both inconvenient, time-consuming and tricky to get it looking just right. Having perfectly shaped brows thanks to eyebrow tattooing is the perfect solution!
Getting an eyebrow tattoo makes it very convenient as you won’t need to draw on your eyebrows every day. It also helps those who’ve lost their eyebrows as a result of alopecia, or as a side effect of chemotherapy, to regain their confidence – and their eyebrows!
Eyebrow tattooing boosts your confidence and makes you feel good about yourself and your appearance. You don’t need to feel insecure about uneven or thinning eyebrows, since Margot can help lift your eyebrows and shape them beautifully.

THINGS TO KEEP IN MIND BEFORE YOUR EYEBROW TATTOO
- Try not to plan social gatherings immediately after having your eyebrow tattoo. The area may swell and be a little reddish for a few days, so it’s a good idea to allow them time to settle before any big events.
- When preparing for the procedure, any eyebrow plucking or waxing should be done at least 48 hours beforehand.
- After getting the tattoo, keep it clean and fresh with the recommended aftercare cream. This helps make the colour last longer.
- Don’t drink any alcohol or medications prior to the procedure.
- Make sure no sweat, make-up or anything foreign gets into your new tattoo. Avoid rubbing or touching the area. Treat it as an injury and protect it until it heals.
- You cannot donate blood for 6 months after getting any cosmetic tattoo procedure.
- Bring your own numbing cream before the procedure. The TGA no longer allows cosmetic tattoo practitioners to apply anesthetics to clients.
FAQS
How long does it last?
Colour Implants’ eyebrow tattoos are permanent. Some salons provide semi-permanent eyebrow tattoo which lasts for only one to two years – though they can last longer if maintained well.
How long does eyebrow tattooing take?
When done by an expert like Margot, a typical eyebrow tattoo session lasts for one and a half to two hours, depending on the procedure type. However, some cosmetic tattoos done by less-experienced practitioners take around two and a half to three hours.
What to do before the procedure?
Clean your face well and avoid plucking or waxing any of your eyebrow hair 48 hours before the procedure. Don’t take alcohol or any blood-thinning medications.
Can I pluck my eyebrows after the procedure?
Once your eyebrow tattoo is healed you can tweeze any stray hairs.
Do I need to go back for a re-touch ?
Yes. Having a permanent eyebrow tattoo usually means it will take 1-2 weeks for the area to heal; at this point you may notice a loss of colour in some areas more than others. The retouch is designed to replace any colour loss, to give you longer lasting results that you will love!
